MANILA HOSTAGE CRISIS: A BUS SURVIVOR’S TALE

VIDEO REENACTMENT VIDEO

———————————————————-

THE STORYTELLER: IS BANG LU MIN REAL, AN ALIAS OR A HOAX?

PHOTO: XINHUAI got something from my email today that relates a victim’s account of the hostage crisis last night at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila.

After reading the article, I realized that perhaps the hostage-taker shot only one hostage and slashed another. Tsk.

Thus, he has killed only two out of desperation while seven hostages were shot and killed by either the snipers or the policemen out of negligence and carelessness. It’s a tragedy indeed.

I hope that this story is really not true. Tsk. As per initial check, most online resources points to this story as being a hoax as there is no survivor named Bang Lu Min at all in the hostage manifest. Anyway, Let’s pray for all the victim’s soul!

Please read the victim’s tale below.

POSTCRIPTS TO A BLOODBATH: A BUS SURVIVOR’S TALE

PHOTO: REUTERS"Mr. Mendoza was already upset even before he saw on television what the policemen did to his brother. The other tourists who remained inside the bus were complaining. Wei Ji Jiang wanted to go to the bathroom. Dao Chi Yu was hungry and the rest were just groaning and whining like they have forgotten that our lives rest in Mr. Mendoza’s hands.

The hostage taker, as you know him was really nice. PHOTO: APHe treated us okay and even let the elders and the children leave the bus. He said your policemen treated him unfairly. He was a policeman too and was accused of doing something he had no knowledge of. But your government didn’t listen so he used us to get everyone’s attention.

Things would have never turned for the worst if he didn’t see how his family was dragged out of their house and taken into custody. He was watching the news all the time as we huddled around each other behind the bus. He shouted some words in your language then started shooting in the air.

A girl about my age started screaming. Mr. Mendoza demanded her to stop but she didn’t understand English. PHOTO: APGod, he had to slash her neck with a knife just to put her to rest. Her boyfriend who tried to hit him was shot in the head. Tension was rising. You can see in his face how scared and confused he was.

The bus driver ran away leaving him alone with strangers from a distant land. I can see him walking across the aisle, sometimes pointing his machine gun to one of the tourists. But he tried his best not to hurt us, especially those who really cooperate. I guess its in your nature not to inflict pain on others unless it was necessary.

PHOTO: GETTY IMAGES I remember him saying that he will free us before sundown and implored us to forget everything when we return home. But his words don’t matter now. The policemen were trying to force their way in, while we all lied down to shield ourselves from bullets. Mister Mendoza blindly shoots at his enemies which I think kept them from rescuing us.

PHOTO: API hear sobs under the chairs. Some were even shouting the names of their loved ones even when the air merely eat their words. Kevin Tang tried to escape when the glass door was was shattered, but one shot and he slumped on the floor with blood gushing from his mouth. Heavy rain pitter-pattered on the rooftop. In old Chinese saying, it means an end to a struggle.

Finally, somebody was able to open the escape hatch at the back of the bus. Freedom. But I knew Mister Mendoza was still alive. I knew he was just waiting for a chance to strike back at his enemies. So I told those around me not to escape. Let the authorities come for us instead. PHOTO: REUTERSThen there was gunfire. He was firing at his enemies with a machine gun. Those who were at the escape hatch fled abandoning us once again. It’s like a nightmare with no end and to wake up means a certain death.

Then somebody from outside the bus threw a canister. It forced out a black smoke that is so painful to the eyes and putrid smelling to the nose. People started screaming. We cannot breathe. Some ran in front of the bus but Mister Mendoza warned them of stray bullets. It was too late. One was hit on the head, the other was hit on the shoulders. Bullets were now flying. Its like the authorities thought we were all dead.

DUBAIMIRROR.COM Mister Mendoza finally admits his mistake and said sorry to everyone, dead or alive. He then ran towards the front of the bus where he would meet his maker. As he passed by my chair with bullets whistling overhead, I clutched my hand on the velvet curtain and wrapped it around my face. All I could think of was to stay alive – for my child who is waiting for me back in Xinjang.

I know I will survive, I will come home."

    • As I said in my post, this story circulating the internet may be a hoax or not true at all. I did not stand for it as being true and valid. I am just sharing what I got from the email as this blog is all about speaking one’s mind. No more. No less. But then again, I agree with you and I appreciate your comment. Thanks!

  4. enough is enough. alot of pictures and videos have been shown and many comments have been heared, let’s all stop this. this can’t help solve the problem, but instead this may create or build up more anger and hatred to the friends and relatives of the innocent victims, and this may worsen or destroy our relationship with our chinese brothers. Instead, we unite in praying for the souls of all the victims. peace be with you all.

  5. Stop on pointing finger . Its really one of filipino’s disease , the Pointing Finger Syndrome , after a big incident , they start to point fingers rather than to evaluate and learn lessons!

    • FREEDOMCLICK! I agree. I believe that we have to learn from this tragedy and put all those learnings in good use by introducing positive changes. Thanks!

  6. can i share it?

    • BABICOO. Sure. Just be sure to put a notice that the story may not be true at all or that it may not be as accurate as what really took place. Thank you.

  7. Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri shared about the hostage taking in Luneta, his mother is tearing and worried and asked him to do something, Huhuhu.

  8. my sympathy to all of the victims and survivors of this tragedy also to mr mendoza himself as he fight for his right as a human,he fought very brave up to the last breathe.philippines should realize that the coffin they bought for the victims was too much for mendoza to his demands.knowing that mister mendoza is a good cop during his service with a lot of awards,i beleived that he is innocent he will never do such things if he is guilty he only wanted the attention of the pnp officials for a fair justice.as i watched the full live coverage of the scene the are many type of guns firing in many directions so no one can tell that the victims were killed in the hands of mister mendoza.i feel very sorry to the hong kong goverment we need not to break the relations with the philippines.we need to focus on the process of rescuing and analyze the evidence as well as the whole coverage of the tragedy.

  9. let’s also perhaps that bang lu min is just an alias to protect his privacy the story is accurate and delivered well, this might be the same story we wanna hear to those few survivors.

  10. fake…
    no Bang Lu Min

  11. I find it insulting to people the entire world how a letter would make it appear this crazed hostage taker is an angel and that he was fighting for his right. If he has any grievance against the governenment, taking hostage and endangering their lives is not the way to go about it. Obviously he was carrying that firearm with enought bullets just in case he have to shoot those hostages. The way he goes berserk in the end just prove that this is a crazy hostage taker that does not deserve any ounce of synpathy from us.

    • Hi Roy! The story was said to be inaccurate if not untrue. As for the statement of the real lady survivor whose husband and daughters were killed, the story is almost the same. Nonetheless, let’s just wait for the victim’s official testimony. So far, this story has been flagged as a fiction perhaps. We do not know what really went on inside the bus so all we have now are just mere speculations, wild guesses and more questions. Cheers!

  12. This is definately a fake story. There was no survivor residing in xinjang china. I cannot believe that survivor could be sympathetic to a person who was the cause of their misery in the first place. Furthermore, a traumatic survivor could not write such a beautiful letter so soon. This is fake .

  13. Goood! Really pathetic >.<

  14. I can’t seem to be able to reach this page from my droid!
