KNOWING ONE’S LABOR RIGHTS

Have you even been in a situation where you either feel like being used or perhaps being exploited at work and you are wondering whether to just accept the fact that employees are paid to work and to bear all these work-related woes or rather take a stand and fight for what you think is right and just?

Well, almost all of us employees do feel the same way but being exploited is something that is out of anyone’s employment contract. We are paid to do work based on our expertise but coping up maltreatments and office abuses is out of the scope of work. Thus, we have the Labor Code as our protection.

Not most of us employees are aware of such laws that aim to protect and provide legal remedy to labor. Thus, I am sharing some links for your own reading so that perhaps you can be educated and share the learnings to your colleagues so they can be aware. Thank you.

    • Sir Labor Lawyer Philippines,

You may check my ARCHIVE on April 2009 (http://ryanericsongcanlas.wordpress.com/2009/04/08/) as I have some useful postings as well related to Labor. Anyway, I am just a wide-reader. Being a lawyer is my frustration but then again, I am happy as well being an IT Professional. Thanks!

      Regards,
      Ryan

  2. sir,
i have been working in a company for 9 months and they did not gave me a contract for me to be a regular employee from probationary. no salary adjustments were made. can i make a complaint?

  3. may i ask if there’s a rule regarding years of service if for example if you served the company for about 5 years or more than is the company need to pay tenure of service?

    • I would safely say that your company should give you atleast 1 month pay for every year of service! So if you have worked for 5.5 years, you should get 6 months pay where 6 months is considered 1 year! Call DOLE hotline for better information!
